Economic Development

The Mayfield Village Planning Development Department was formed in early 2009. Over the years, functions of community planning and economic development in the Village have been performed collectively by Village departments and citizen committees. As the economic climate changed in 2008 and 2009, we decided that the timing was right to formalize these efforts into a department, in order to position ourselves ideally for positive changes in the economy.

There are two primary functions of the Planning Development Department. The first is to facilitate community planning by implementing Mayfield Village’s comprehensive plan. This responsibility involves working closely with the Building Department, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Planning Development Committee. Within its planning function, the Planning Development Department evaluates and re-evaluates the zoning code and its effectiveness in promoting land uses that Mayfield Village residents support.

The second function is the safeguarding of Mayfield Village’s business environment through economic development. Mayfield Village is dedicated to rewarding its resident businesses not only with unparalleled municipal services, but also with an attentive ear to the needs of those businesses. Mayfield Village is the home of over 150 businesses and approximately 10,000 employees. With a greater than 2:1 ratio of people employed in the Village to people living in the Village, we have a responsibility to address the needs of our business community.
