MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village Civic Hall – Mayfield Village Civic Center
Monday, February 11, 2019 – Immediately following Caucus at 7:00 p.m.

The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, February 11, 2019 immediately following Caucus at 7:00 p.m. at Mayfield Village Civic Hall.  Council President Saponaro called the meeting to order at 7:21 p.m.

ROLL CALL: 

Present: Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Meyers, Mrs. Mills, Mr. Saponaro, Mr. Schutt and Mr. Williams

Also Present: Mayor Bodnar, Mr. Coyne, Mr. Wynne, Mr. Cappello, Chief Carcioppolo, Chief Matias, Mr. Marrelli, Mr. Metzung, Mr. McAvinew, Ms. Wolgamuth and Mrs. Betsa

Absent: Dr. Parker

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Council President Saponaro stated, first, we want to wish Ms. Wolgamuth a Happy Birthday on February 21st.

  • Motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of $13,054 to the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for the 2018 True-Up Report liability.

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of $13,054 to the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for the 2018 True-Up Report liability.

Council President Saponaro asked, discussion?

Mr. Wynne stated, again real quickly, in January of 2018, we paid an insurance premium to the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation based upon their estimate of what our payroll would be for calendar year 2018.  Now we are required to update that calculation based upon what the actual payroll was for 2018.  The payment is required by February 15th.

Council President Saponaro stated, very good.  Any questions regarding this?

There were none.

  • Administration of Oath of Office to Police Chief Paul Matias

Mayor Bodnar stated, I would like to thank everyone who came here tonight.  I know you have come to witness the swearing in of our new Police Chief, Chief Matias and also to support Mayfield Village and our Police Department.  I thank you very much for coming out tonight and I invite you to come back to some more Council meetings.  I am very proud and honored and humbled to swear in our brand new Police Chief, Chief Matias if you would join me tonight?  Is your wife here?

Chief Matias replied, yes.

Mayor Bodnar asked, would you also like to come up?  Thank you.

Mayor Bodnar administered the oath of office to Chief Paul Matias.

Chief Matias stated, thank you everyone for coming.  I appreciate it.

ADJOURNMENT

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to adjourn.

The meeting adjourned at 7:29 p.m.  The next Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 25, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.
