Mayfield Heights Construction Update:

Reprieve of Mayfield Road Construction Project

New Earlier Commencement Date (November 20, 2007)

Mayfield Heights -- I am proud to announce, in an unprecedented move to assist the residents, travelers, and business community, the City of Mayfield Heights, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Anthony Allega Cement Contractor, Inc have engineered a collaborative effort to allow a “winter reprieve” to the Mayfield Road Construction Project.

Commencing, on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, twelve (12) days earlier than anticipated, through, on or about, March 1, 2008, the construction project shall be placed on hold from SOM Center road, west, to Lander Road. The effective work and sound planning from the commencement of the project will, weather permitting, allow us to complete the south side of the City's signature road in two of the project's three phases prior to the winter season. The State will take advantage of the winter season to complete the utility work on the north side of Mayfield Road from SOM Center Road, east, to the corporate line so as to be ready to complete the reconstruction of this side of the road commencing spring, 2008. Without the ability to complete this work during the winter season, the State would fall behind in the project, a situation that the City has promised to try and avoid at every step of the project. The project will not be delayed as a result of this calculated move to assist those who travel Mayfield Road and businesses that rely upon the efficient flow of traffic for their respective clients, suppliers, patients, and customers.

The Mayfield Road Construction project will commence in Section 1, again, in the spring of 2008 and we look forward to another successful construction period to improve this much traveled road in a safe, efficient, and fiscally responsible manner. When complete this once bottleneck stretch of road will allow all travelers to enjoy a much improved flow of traffic.
