OFFICE
The Human Services' Office is located at the back of the Community Room, 6621 Wilson Mills Road.  There is a separate outside entrance on the southwest side of the building.

Visitors are welcome!  Stop to see us weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.



SUGGESTION BOX
There is a suggestion box just outside the Human Services' Office for your suggestions, correspondence, or to return registration forms.  (The box is locked.)

The Mayfield Village Human Service Department sends newsletters to those seniors who have asked to be included on our mailing list. Our last newsletter, Winter 2006-2007, was mailed in December 2006. If you did not receive that newsletter, please give us your name and address so we can add you to our mailing list.

MEALS ON WHEELS
The Hillcrest Meals on Wheels Program is available to residents of
Mayfield Village and the Hillcrest area who are homebound or unable to shop and/or cook for themselves. Meals are provided five days a week. If you are interested in this service, please leave a message for Eunice Kalina, Mayfield Village Director of Human Services, 440-919-2332

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MEALS ON WHEELS
The Hillcrest Meals on Wheels Program is in urgent need of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering as little as two hours a week, contact Dottie Goldstein, Program Coordinator, at 440-449-3551. The office is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Your help would be sincerely appreciated.


ONGOING SENIOR ACTIVITIES
All area seniors are welcome to attend our ongoing activities.  Activities are held at the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room, 6621 Wilson Mills Road , unless otherwise noted.  Please check the Weekly Senior Calendar to confirm the schedule. Offices closed and activities are not scheduled on the following days: Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and day after, Chirstmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Cost: $28 (Includes admission to exhibit and transportation.) If you wish to rent the audio accompanying the tour, pay an additional $4.50 the day of the trip.
Lunch: Tommy's in the Coventry area at own expense.

Enjoy this award-winning exhibition celebrating the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Weather permitting, we will make a stop at Lake View Cemetery to view Daffodil Hill on our return.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES – AT THE MV COMMUNITY ROOM, 6621 WILSON MILLS ROAD

 

·        Cards

      Join us any Tuesday or Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. to play cards.  Come solo or with a friend.  We currently play bridge, pinochle, and hand and foot while making new friends and enjoying refreshments.  Admission remains at 25 cents per person.  Blood pressures are checked on the third Tuesday of each month at approximately 1:30 p.m. by members of the Mayfield Village Fire Department. 

 

·        Games & Puzzles

Drop in monday from 1 to 4 p.m. to play games (chess, checkers, backgammon, scrabble, etc.), puzzles, or work on a needlework project with fellow seniors. This is a free activitiy; non-residents are welcome. Come solo or bring a friend. Refreshments are served.
 

·        Sociables

All seniors are welcome to come to Sociables every Thursday morning starting October 19 from 9:00 to 11 a.m.  Come solo or bring a friend to this friendly morning get together. Enjoy quiet conversation and a free continental breakfast as you savor your morning with fellow seniors. Free. Guest speakers and health care workers will join you occasionally.

 

 

Movie Matinees at Governor’s Village

            Village seniors are invited to join our friends at Governor’s Village on the first and third Wednesday of each month for a delightful afternoon at their lovely facility.  We will watch a movie on their large screen television while we munch on popcorn and other light snacks.  Suggestions for movies always welcome.  Please contact us for a current movie schedule.

 

Wood Carving

            Wood carvers of all levels of experience - including beginners - are invited to carve with us on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Bring your fish filleting gloves, knife, and current project - or start a new one. Several cutouts will be available. There is a $.50 for this activity and there is an additional charge for wood and tools used.

 

Senior Stroll/Nature Walk

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:00 a.m. -10:30-10:45 a.m.
The first 7-week session begins Monday, April 16. No class May 28. Adults who are at least 50 years of age are invited to join others and walk with Marie. Meet at the parking area at S.O.M. Center Road and North Chagrin Parkview and stroll at your own pace while enjoying the beauty of the Cleveland Metroparks. Wear comfortable walking shoes. We will not walk in rain or thunder. No pets please. Fee: $7/session.
