AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE MAYOR AND PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL
TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE
OHIO DEVELOPMENT SERVICES AGENCY
FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE
LOCAL GOVERNMENT SAFETY CAPITAL GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio through the Ohio Development Services Agency, administers financial assistance for the purchasing of vehicles, equipment, facilities or systems for police, fire or emergency medical services needed to enhance public safety, through the Local Government Safety Capital Grant Program (“LGSC Grant Program”); and
WHEREAS, Mayfield Village desires financial assistance under the LGSC Grant Program to purchase two (2) MCC 7500 IP Dispatch Consoles for the Mayfield Village Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Council deems it necessary and in the best interest to the health, safety and welfare of all Village residents to enter into a grant agreement with the Ohio Development Services Agency for financial assistance through the LGSC Grant Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Council of the Mayfield Village approves entering into a grant agreement with the Ohio Development Services Agency for financial assistance for vehicles, equipment, facilities or systems for police, fire or emergency medical services needed to enhance public safety.
SECTION 2. The Village Mayor and Council President are hereby authorized and directed to enter into the grant agreement with the Ohio Development Services Agency that is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit “A”.
SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village. It shall, therefore, take effect immediately upon passage by the affirmative vote of not less than five (5) members elected to Council and approval by the Mayor or otherwise at the earliest time allowed by law.
