Resolution 2014-11

A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO
ANDY ARTH

WHEREAS, on January 20, 2014, Andy Arth, an employee of the Mayfield Village Racquet Club, initiated early advanced care to Greg Mueller, who had collapsed  due to a lethal arrhythmia.

WHEREAS, because of the quick response, coupled with the activation of the emergency response system (911), Greg Mueller survived the cardiac event.  Andy Arth retrieved the AED, attached it to Mr. Mueller, and delivered a shock within three minutes of the collapse.  The AED recognized a lethal arrhythmia and advised to initiate a shock which allowed for Return of Spontaneous Circulation.  Working with Dr. Marius Gota, a bystander playing on the court next to the victim, Greg Mueller was alert and oriented by the time the Mayfield Village Fire Department arrived.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:

Andy Arth be thanked and commended for his quick actions, which were crucial in the positive outcome of the event.

SECTION 1.  The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 2.  The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to prepare duplicate original copies of this Resolution.  One such original shall be presented to Andy Arth.  The other original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village.

SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective upon its adoption by Council and the signature of the Mayor, or as may otherwise be provided by law.
