MINUTES OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING OF COUNCIL

Monday, January 4, 2016 – 6:45 p.m.

The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session for their Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Mayfield Village Civic Hall. Mayor Bodnar called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Mr. Jerome, Mr. Marrie, Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker, Mr. Saponaro and Mr. Williams

Also Present: Mayor Bodnar, Mr. Wynne, Mr. Diemert, Mr. Cappello, Chief Carcioppolo, Chief Edelman, Mr. Thomas, Ms. Wolgamuth, and Mrs. Betsa

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Mayor Bodnar stated, it is my honor to administer the oath of office to Councilman William Marquardt. Before I do that, I would like to note for the record that the oaths of office for Dr. Parker and Mr. Saponaro were already administered during the December 21st meeting of Council.

  • Administration of Oath of Office to William Marquardt, Ward 1 Council

Mayor Bodnar administered the oath of office to William Marquardt as Ward 1 Council representative.

  • Election of President of Council for 2016

Mayor Bodnar opened the floor for nominations for Council President for 2016.

Mr. Jerome, seconded by Dr. Parker, nominated Joseph Saponaro for Council President for 2016.

Mayor Bodnar asked, are there any other nominations?

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Williams, nominated Thomas Marrie for Council President for 2016.

Mayor Bodnar asked, are there any other nominations? There were none.

  • Motion to close the nominations

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Jerome, made a motion to close the nominations.

Roll Call:

AYES: All
NAYS: None

Motion Carried. Nominations Closed.

Mayor Bodnar stated, at this time, we will take a vote. We will take separate roll calls.

AYES: Jerome, Marquardt, Parker, Saponaro
NAYS: Marrie, Mills, Williams

Roll Call: Thomas Marrie

AYES: Marrie, Mills, Williams

Mayor Bodnar administered the oath of office to Joseph Saponaro as Council President for 2016.

  • Election of Council President Pro Tem for 2016

Council President Saponaro opened the floor for nominations for Council President Pro Tem for 2016.

Mr. Marrie, seconded by Mrs. Mills, nominated George Williams as Council President Pro Tem for 2016.

Council President Saponaro asked, are there any other nominations? There being no other nominations, the nominations are closed.

  • Motion to elect George Williams as Council President Pro Tem for 2016.

Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Marrie, elected George Williams as Council President Pro Tem for 2016.

Roll Call:

AYES: All
NAYS: None

Motion Carried. George Williams Elected as Council President Pro Tem for 2016.

Mayor Bodnar administered the oath of office to George Williams as Council President Pro Tem for 2016.

ANY OTHER MATTERS:

Council President Saponaro asked if there were any other matters.

Mrs. Mills asked, will you be changing any of the Council Committee assignments?

Council President Saponaro replied, unless someone specifically states that they want something changed, no.

Mrs. Mills asked, will you still stay on Finance?

Council President Saponaro replied, yes. I am not planning on changing any of my assignments. If someone would like to be on a different Committee, let me know. Are there any other questions? There were none.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to adjourn.

The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. The next Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 8:00 p.m.
